About the Author
Andrew Loomis was born in 1892. After studying art, he moved to Chicago where he eventually opened his own studio - working in editorial and advertising for most of the top clients of the time, including Kellog's, Coca Cola, Lucky Strike and many others.
He also became renowned as an art teacher and his instructional books on illustration and art are acclaimed classics in the field. He died in 1959.

Great classic reprinted by Titan Books

[[VIDEOID:mo2UQ1XB77F5XP5]]This is the second Andrew Loomis book that publisher Titan Books has reprinted. Just like Figure Drawing for All It's Worth, this is a large format hardcover with a dust jacket. The production quality is excellent and it's a faithful reprint of the original content.
There are 5 parts to the book. The first 4 parts covers the drawing of head for men, women, babies, kids and teenagers. The last part is on drawing hands. The instructions are insightful and simple to follow. Illustrated examples are beautiful.
The section on drawing hands is not a lot but I guess still adequate enough. If you want a good book on drawing hands, check out Drawing Dynamic Hands by Burne Hogarth.
It's great that this classic is reprinted because everyone can own one now. This is a great companion book to figure drawing books. Highly recommended.

For the Kindle Version Only

It pains me to give such a poor review for this wonderful item, but please do yourself a favor and steer clear of the Kindle Version. It's nothing more than a very poorly sized and uploaded scan of someone's marked and underlined copy of the book! I would recommend this purchase unconditionally as long as you are buying the printed version, unfortunately quality issues prevented me from getting any use out of the digital version.

DO NOT BUY KINDLE EDITION - PHOTOCOPY

This book is a photo or scanned copy. Many of the pages are unreadable. The publisher, or whomever, has simply scaned this book into a computer and is now selling it. This is a complete rip off and Amazon should delete this from its Kindle menu, especially since many of the pages are blurry, have underlines, and are unreadable.
