Great Buy!!

This is my first review after a while of being on Amazon- and for good reason, too!

Cover: The cover is bound in psuedo-leather with a raised insigna of The Elder Scrolls in the center. Very eye-catching and appealing

Art: Wow is all I can say! It is amazing to be able to look at the very art that inspired Skyrim, from being just an idea to a massive open world, where you can do whatever you want, when you want...But I've got to stay on topic here. The art is great, and every page is full of it. I promise you that it doesn't disappoint- from stunning landscapes to the sketches that formed the basis of the game.

Shipping: When buying from online websites, I am always wary about the shipping- since a variety of things can go wrong. But, I recieved the book before the expected delivery, to my pleasant surprise. The book wasn't damaged or scratched in any way, and I am glad to say that this purchase was a wonderful success.

Price: I bought the book brand new for just less than $100. Yes, it isn't cheap, but is something that is worth every penny.

In conclusion, if you are on the fence about buying this for any of the aforementioned reasons, I would urge to go ahead and make the purchase! I am very satisfied that I bought this.

i can't recommend this book

i would have done it differently.there were too many concept paintings that never appear in the games instead of actual finished products.if you wanted to show someone the game you devoted so much time to,they would be none the wiser.i can't recommend this book.it could have been so much better.

About the Author

Robert Kemp, DBA, CPA

Professor Kemp is the Ramon W. Breeden, Sr. Research Professor at the McIntire School of Commerce, University of Virginia. He is a certified public accountant and possesses a baccalaureate, master’s, and doctorate in business administration.

Professor Kemp is an accomplished scholar, conducting research and writing in the theory and practice of contemporary business. He currently is conducting research in the funding of pensions, the management of financial institutions, and corporate finance. His scholarly works include 70 completed projects, including monographs, articles, cases, research presentations, and working papers. His work is published in, among other places, The Financial Review; The Journal of Financial Research; Advances in Accounting, A Research Journal; Benefits Quarterly; The Journal of Mathematics Applied in Business and Industry; The Journal of Accountancy; The Journal of Commercial Bank Lending; The Journal of Bank Accounting and Auditing; and The Journal of Business Economics.

Professor Kemp is likewise an accomplished teacher, to both University students and executives throughout the world. During his 36 years at the University of Virginia, he has taught numerous undergraduate and graduate courses. He has taught classes using lectures, case studies, discussion groups, and distance learning. His consistently high evaluations by students reflect his devotion to the classroom. This high quality is also seen in his teaching of business executives. He has worked with and taught for organizations such as Bank of America, the FDIC, Navigant–Tucker Alan, the Siberian Banking Institute, the Barents Group, KPMG, Gerson Lehrman, Wellington Management, the Russian Bankers Association, the Central Asian American Enterprise Fund, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Consumer Bankers Association.

Jeffrey Waybright teaches accounting at Spokane Community College, which is part of a multi-college district in eastern Washington. He has been a full-time, tenured community college instructor for more than 23 years. In addition to teaching at the community college level, he has also taught upper division courses for Linfield College. Jeffrey is a co-recipient of the Washington Society of CPA’s Outstanding Educator Award.

Jeffrey received his BA in business administration (emphasis in accounting) and MBA from Eastern Washington University. Before becoming a professor, Jeffrey spent eight years as a practicing CPA in Washington State and still holds his license. During his teaching career, he has taught in many disciplines of accounting, including financial, managerial, computerized, and payroll accounting as well as in the disciplines of entrepreneurship, economics, business math, and general business. Jeffrey developed online courses in accounting, teaches online and traditional courses for financial and managerial accounting, and advises students. Jeffrey is passionate about teaching students on the subject of accounting.

If this book has a thesis, it is a line the princess uses to describe the troubles her own daughters are going through as they try to assert themselves in the male-dominated society: "When normal is forbidden, people fall into the abnormal." With religious police watching over their morals, one wonders just how more "abnormal" these people and their country can be. The answer: quite a bit. This book, both fascinating and depressing, shows that women are much less than second-class citizens in Saudi society. Brian McCombie

After reading the first book about Princess Saltana (Princess) I knew that Daughters would be fascinating. And it is! The book discusses her 2 daughters and 1 son and picks up where her last book left off. Her youngest daughter is a devout Muslim with an extremely oppressive mentality towards her society. Her second child is a wild child by Saudi standards but her mother loves her just the same. And Princess Saltana's oldest child, her son is as compassionate and liberated as his mother. She raised him well. This story takes place in Saudi Arabia where women are treated as second class citizens. The men use their religion to justify all sorts of heinous crimes which is sickening when I thick about it. These men who degrade women are cowards but they get away with anything they want. In the USA they would be called pedophiles and locked up in jail. But in Saudi Arabia they are free to do exactly as they please. This is also about a country that regards wealth and physical attributes of the most important things in life, money and sex go hand and hand. And women are treated as property to gain social and economic power. Princess Saltana is a heroine for telling her story, even though her family found out about her first book. She is also a heroine for preaching women's rights in a land that has no rights for women. She is a heroine because she sees hope in the future for the women of her country. The book isn't only about her daughters it is also about Princess Saltana's life and family. She is a deeply moving person with a lot of conviction. And I can only hope that one day all the women in her country will be treated with the basic human rights that they all deserve - but do not have. I just found out there is a third book about Princess Saltana titled Princess Saltana's Circle, I am sure it will be an interesting read too. Also I want to say that Jean Sasson is a genius and a brilliant writer!

I read "Princess" in 1991 - twice in two weeks--read again Nov 2001 and am now reading for the 4th time. ALL of Jean Sasson's books are difficult to put down. Princess Sultana is one courageous and brave woman. Thank goodness there is a royal who is willing to fight for women rights to go forward in The Mid-East countries. There is much humor in the Princess series--especially with Sultana's daughters and that EVIL brother of hers--but he is a product of that culture. I can't wait for each of Jean's Sasson's books to come out. ALL of them are fascinating.

Fascinating view into another Culture.

We live in a world where the terms Muslim and Islam are thrown around in the press and almost always with little understanding of the culture and traditions implied in and by the terms. I, myself, am widely read, extremely open and tolerant of others, but know less than I should about the religion of Islam or the culture being lived around the world by Muslim people. I am also increasingly interested in women's issues as a grandmother of 5 granddaughters witnessing the Talibanization of uber right Conservative Christian elements in our society.

This book is written by an American author, but in the words of a Saudi Princess, who is carefully anonymized, but who is herself of the newer generations who seek to throw off some of the oppressive elements of their Muslim culture which is very controlling and punishing of women.

There are 3 books in this series, and all are absolutely fascinating looks into a world that I, as an American, could not even imagine. First of all Saudi royalty is a place I will never know. But the predominance of the oppression of women, even among the wealthy who are in some ways above some of the rigidity of it all, is incredible. I had no idea the culture of genital mutilation of females was such a prevalent part of the culture. But that is not the focus of the book - still it is part of the culture and is emotionally upsetting to consider. It puts a new complexion on the efforts in our country to try to use religion to force women into a second-class position controlled by men, whose goal is not loving enhancement of the experience of life for their women, but domination and management of women to fulfill their own male aims/wants and desires. Equality is a hard thing, but it is infinitely desirable compared to dominance and oppression.

I have read the first and second books, this book is #2, the first is Sultana, the second this book and the third, Princess Sultana's Circle. I am just beginning book 3 and the effect of reading to this point has been very broadening, educational, concerning, and expanding of my consciousness. The writing style is excellent. The subject matter is what it is and as I say, interesting and consciousness raising.

I highly recommend this series of three books.

We are sinking fast passengers being put into boats

Alfred Fernand Omont, a first class passenger, offered this statement to the British Commission of Enquiry:

"While I was still on the boat deck, a [life] boat was let down. The 1st officer saw me and asked me if I wanted to get in. Some of the passengers shouted to me not to get in as they had such confidence in the ship. I saw that the sea was very calm, and on calm reason I thought it better to jump into the boat and see what would happen. I jumped two or three yards, and landed in the boat anyhow. We were twenty nine in the boat. The boat could not have held more than thirty in any case. I personally consider and state that the idea of putting sixty people in a boat or on a raft is ridiculous. I have a photograph in my possession which shows how ridiculous it is to attempt to put 50 or sixty persons in one of these boats or rafts. I consider it a monstrosity to state that one could put 60 persons in a boat, in safety. . . .

"When we were in the water we started to row away from the ship. I was rowing. We had 22 women on board. . . . We rowed up to about 150 yards from the ship. We saw the ship sink gradually--she sank to starboard".

Excellent primary source historical information.

If what you like are action, adventure, and dramatic illistrations, this is not for you. If you want a contemporary view, to hold history in your hand and be brought back to 1912, this is most definately for you. Yet there is a certain emotion in examening Titanic's registration, her survey report, the port by port clearance papers of newly embarked passengers, and the other narratives and reports. The Harland and Wolff plans are the best I have yet found, while the 74 page report of the British Court of Investigation is fascinating, if somewhat dry, reading, from both a technical and human perspective. This is a must, not only for serious Titanic people, but for anyone interested in the history of the era.

I received this item as a gift many years ago, and I have preserved it since. It is truly a collectors item for its wealth of information pertaining to the Titanic disaster. There are 18 documents (don't let the number fool you into thinking that is minimal) of full reproductions of all the pertinent information concerning the tragedy.

A full introductory bulletin spanning 15 pages which beautifully illustrates the box contents. In addition to a brief summary of the maiden voyage, there is information on "further reading", a little blurb on each item in the box set, and an appendix of "Particulars of Ships Built By Harland and Wolff-Entries for the Olympic and Titanic."
