Dianna Cook Thomas has been a police officer for more than 12 years. She was also a Police Jailer for one year. She received a B.A. degree in Health and Physical Education from Centenary College of Louisiana, a Methodist college, and a Master's degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana. While on the police department, she advanced herself by becoming an FBI Instructor, a Physical Fitness Certified Instructor, a Domestic Violence Instructor, a Sexual Harassment Instructor, a Firearms Instructor, Armorer Certified, and Defensive Tactics Instructor. Dianna has been honored for several community service awards, and has received numerous commendation letters from her supervisors for her commitment and dedication to serving the citizens of Shreveport, Louisiana.

Why did she start writing so late in life?

Harriet Doerr cheated herself and her readers by not devoting herself to the craft of writing much earlier in her life. She's best known for Stones for Ibarra, but I think Tiger in the Grass is her real masterpiece, and Consider This, Senora comes in second. However, all 3 of her books are excellent and demonstrate a respect for the craft of writing the perfect sentence that readers will appreciate and writers can all learn from.

Consider This, Senora is a collection of chapters focused around a small town in central Mexico where several expatriates come to live on a mesa above the dirt-poor town. It's written so carefully that each chapter can actually stand alone as a complete tale, but taken together they form a history of 6 years of life in both the village and on the mesa. We grow to care about them all: the padre, the mayor, the beggars, the income tax cheat, the man-chaser, the widow, the pianist, the beautiful 14yo serving girl, all of them.

Luminous and insightful, filled with beautiful language and the perfect turn of each phrase, Consider This, Senora, is a masterpiece.

Beautifully written

I don't think this story is as exquisitely constructed as Doerr's 'Stones for Ibarra.' (In 'Stones for Ibarra,' Doerr wove a series of short stories into a rich tapestry of a novel; 'Consider This Senora' has a more traditional structure.) However, she still does a wonderful job describing rural Mexican culture from an American outsider's point of view. The language she uses is clear and concise, and at the same time full of beautiful descriptions that reflect her understanding of her characters and of the human experience in general. Doerr's prose often reads almost like poetry. This book will leave you with many beautiful images of rural Mexico.

a gorgeous reading experience

I first read CONSIDER THIS, SENORA many years ago. I have since re-read it several times, and have given it as a gift many times to fellow book lovers. This story is so beatifully written in its vivid characters and the colorful landscape of rural Mexico.

Ms. Doerr has assembled a small cast of players, with very different backgrounds and motivations, and dropped them on a mesa to live out their hopes and perhaps their dreams.

As she lived in Mexico for many years with her husband, who was a diplomat, Ms. Doerr paints the novel with very detailed descriptions of the smallest things like the colors of flowers. You almost can smell and see the blooms in your mind's eye.

One of the most poignant scenes is that of someone playing a piano and it sounds echoing softly across the mesa in the midst of a rainstorm. The imagery is dreamlike and quite peaceful.

Ms. Doerr didn't start writing in earnest until she had returned to college to earn her history degree when she was in her 70s. She has since written a collection of short stories, TIGER IN THE GRASS. She has a talent that has indeed been overlooked by millions of readers everywhere. Hopefully with time she will be recognized for her immense gift of storytelling!

With so little information about the original production of The Rocky Horror Show available, Bourton's book is a treat for any fan of The Rocky Horror Show. However, while his voice does perfectly illustrate his wonderful anecdotes, it feels as if there is no strong adhesive which holds together Bourton's wonderful adventure.
Grammatical and formatting errors abound, and it is clear that this book needs some heavy editing to fix its glaring problems. There is no spacing between chapters on the Kindle and no table of contents. The book also lacks the photos which are supposed to be included.

This book was absolutely fantastic! You get to kind of finally see what went on to create the biggest cult phenomenon in history, and from a perspective of the original rocky! I think it is definetly a book every die-hard rocky horror fan should read! I would rate it higher if there wasn't a 5 star limit.

Poor for beginners

Like the previous reviewer stated, this book isn't for everyone. The text is very hard to read due to a lot of jargon that is unnecessary. Most terms aren't even explained until after they are used chapters before being defined. This book also does not correspond well with the online tests very well.

You would think that with a little determination and this book, you'd be able to ace all the online tests. This is not true, however, as this book fails to explain a majority of the test questions. (I actually rely on my instructors notes over the reading the book when necessary)

Don't get it unless you have to.

A variety of publications cover the American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Y 14.SM standard Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT). One problem faced by those who are responsible for inspection is the fact that most of these publications cover the subject of GDT only from the point of view of the draftsperson, designer, or manufacturing engineer. There are few sources of information for the people who have to inspect the end product with respect to these tolerances. Many who understand geometric tolerances and inspection methods have learned them the hard way—through mistakes and experience. The primary purpose of this book is to provide a source of learning for specific methods and techniques that can be used to ensure functional inspection of geometric tolerances. This book is designed specifically for operators, machinists, inspectors, quality technicians and engineers, and other people in manufacturing companies who have the need to know about inspection methods and techniques.

Some assumptions were made during the preparation of this book. One is that the reader already understands how to use and care for standard inspection equipment. A variety of inspection gages and measuring instruments (such as micrometers, indicators, surface plates, right-angle plates, and precision parallels) will be used in the examples, and it is assumed that the reader knows how to use this equipment. Many available textbooks cover the fundamentals of measuring and gaging equipment if the reader should need to study these topics.

Another assumption is that the reader works with GDT on engineering drawings per the ASME Y14.SM standard. The ASME symbols are interpreted in this book to the extent necessary to understand the inspection or gaging method discussed. An introduction to each symbol and some key facts about the symbol provide the reader with the interpretation necessary to perform the inspection and to better understand the symbol and its application. There are many different applications for GDT on a wide variety of products and functional requirements. It is not possible to cover all the different combinations and applications in one text. This book does, however, cover all the geometric tolerances in the standard, a representative sample of applications, and more than one method of inspection for each symbol.

Coverage of inspection methods for each symbol will begin with a sample drawing of a part, an explanation of the geometric requirement, a review of the GDT rules and tolerance zones that apply, and, finally, step-by-step instructions and photos for the inspection or gaging method. Readers should try to consider an application of their own as they are studying the various inspection and gaging methods covered in this book. For example, the methods illustrated might cover an example using a small part that are the same methods for larger parts using larger equipment. In every case, the rules and tolerance zones for each symbol are the same as the examples indicate, except that different amounts of tolerances are often applied.

It is important to understand that all the tolerance values used in this book are examples only and do not in any way constitute standard tolerance values. Tolerances for a given design depend solely on the design requirement. All inspection methods and techniques carry with them a certain amount of inherent error. The limitations of each method will also be covered so that appreciable measurement errors can be avoided.

Another assumption is that readers will use the knowledge obtained from each application covered to help them see how the inspection could be performed with other similar instruments, keeping in mind that a wide variety of measuring machines could be used for the inspection.

Most of the parts used in this book, except those with a specific credit line, have been machined specifically for use in the book and are the property of the author. All the measuring instruments used in this book are used instruments that have been donated by various companies, or the company has allowed the author access to its equipment. Although most of the instruments are second-hand, they provide good physical examples of each measurement method covered. This second edition offers the following changes and additions:

• Extensive revisions have been made to all text and graphics to update the book to the latest revision of the reference standard (American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Y14.SM-1994)).
• Symmetry has been separated into a new Chapter 17.
• A new Chapter 18 has been added, entitled Introduction to Functional Gage Design.
• New photos of functional gages have been added in Chapter 18.
• New applications have been covered that are found only in the latest 1994 ASME standard.

Finally, this book has been limited by the type and amount of gages and products that have been donated for use in the examples. There are many different kinds of equipment on the market today that are more sophisticated than the equipment used in this book, but the principles of measuring geometric tolerances are well demonstrated by these traditional measuring tools and gages.

Best "Open Setup" GDT book on the market!

This is by far the best "open setup" textbook on GDT on the market. Gary has created two books (the other one called The Quality Technician Handbook) that are of high-quality and very useful to any machinist, engineer, technician,.... interested in quality control. They do require a minimum of understanding of the field of inspection so the novice needs to make sure that he/she gets help from a qualified co-worker or instructor when he/she has questions about the content.

Better than Vol. 1

The introduction of birdbrained Papi, the harpy, adds a lot to the story. (Actually introduced in Vol. 1, but makes a bigger impression here.) She's the most human-like of the monster girls, is straightforward in personality, is reasonably proportioned (see earlier review in vol. 1), and kinda dumb. But nice. Her innocent and uninhibited personality makes for good comedy. I don't care for Cerea the centaur. Her proportions (that is, boobs) are beyond ridicule, almost sad. Supposedly the stiff, well mannered motherly type, she's just a downer.

Next we meet the illegal alien jelly girl whose name (of course) is Suu. Why are manga artists fascinated with this name? Suu doesn't speak Japanese, or possibly not at all, but she is the weirdest yet. All the "monster girls" are supposed to be girls, but I have my doubts about Suu. In her first meeting with the crew, she violates all the other girls chastity, but in a hilarious way.

This manga is edgy, pushing my boundaries with unanticipated semi-erotic situations. This is also part of it's charm. It is lighthearted and not seriously hentai. The male protagonist Kimihito keeps his cool and threads the needle, lots of tension but no consummation or heartbreak. By its own lights, it is a innocent harem style roma-com. With a heavy dose of fan service.

His troubles have just begun

Poor Kimihito, just when he was starting to get used to having three lovely monster girls under his roof, their handler throws a new wrinkle and suggests that he marries one of the three, be it magnificient Miia, precocous Papi, or curvacous Centora. But the news does not come at a good time, as the full moon in hanging high and all three girls are feeling their "animal" instincts. Now he has to deal with making a big decision, deal with Miia's reptilian nature when she needs him to help her, and learn more about the monster world and the creatures in it - or he might not even MAKE it to the altar.

this story picks up right where the last one ended and does not let up. With each story comes new developments, new characters (especially the lovable Suu), and more problems for our poor host hero. And unlike other series, he knows all three of the girls care for him and love him in their own ways and he does come up with a solution to the problem showing that he has a brain as well a good heart. A series like this should get an anime series going and if so I will have to buy it when it comes over to the states. I can not wait for the next book to see what happens next.

I think I have a thing for monster girls.

We're all here for the same reason. You don't actively look for a Monster Musume book for no reason. Unless maybe you're buying it as a gift for a friend that likes the series. I like Monster Musume and my friends look at me like "Yup, that's our weird anime lover."

Content-wise: I loved the book.
Physically: Book was sharp, clean, not sun-bleached.
